Karen Merkel

Karen is the Clinical Director of our Fishers location and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.  She has been in the field for more than a decade working with children, adolescents, and adults with autism and other developmental and emotional disabilities in various settings, including home, school, residential, and center-based programs.  She received her Bachelor of Science in psychology from Indiana University, Master of Arts in clinical mental health counseling from Valparaiso University, and additional graduate specialization in applied behavior analysis from Ball State University.  She is passionate about being part of an interdisciplinary treatment team that integrates the science of applied behavior analysis with other sciences in the development of effective child and family-specific behavioral treatment programs. She is also deeply interested in the development of clinical training and supervision that promotes generalization of skills across the individual’s everyday, natural environment as well as with the family and significant others to affect meaningful change.  

Karen is married and has a young daughter and son.  In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family and being outdoors.
